ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 American National Standard – Personal Eye and Face Protective Devices
ANSI Z87.1 sets forth criteria related to the general requirements, testing, permanent marking, selection, care and use of protectors to minimize or prevent injuries from such hazards as impact, non-ionizing radiation, and chemical exposures in occupational and educational environments including, but not limited to, machinery operations, material welding and cutting, chemical handling, and assembly operations. The most recent update of the ANSI/ ISEA Z87.1 was released in 2020. This is the first revision to be released since 2015 and it only adds minor details. The monumental changes on the standard were applied from 2010 and 2015 revisions, shifting towards more hazardbased vision, as opposed to the original product configuration requirements of the standard. The new standard is focused on the hazards and is organized so that users can seek guidance by type of hazard, such as impact, optical radiation, splash, fine dust and mist.
